Summerville Boys’ Cross Country team placed first at the Region Championships. Victor Shellhammer was the individual Region Champion with a time of 16:03. Also claiming region honors were Ben Eddy (16:44) placing 4th, Daren Lagasca (16:55 PR) placing 6th and Frasier Byram placing(17:23) 12th. Rounding out the scoring was Reilly Gobin (17:38PR), Noah Woodbury (17:39), and Gabe Carnagey (17:57). Also running well for the Greenwave were Jeremiah Eddy (18:15), Jacob Braddock (18:20), Taylor Mitchum (18:31), Coty Lodge (18:42), Trey Overton (18:42PR), Caden McComiskey (18:49PR), Payne Rutherford (18:50), Grant Hughes (19:21) and Jack Schwartz (19:25).

Summerville Cross Country competed at the Sandhills Invitational October 14th in Columbia. With over 60 teams in attendance, the greenwave varsity girls and boys teams ran in the Green divisional races for larger schools. The boys placed 7th as a team with Victor Shellhammer finishing 9th overall in a time of 16:05. Ben Eddy was next in for the Greenwave in 16th just missing the top 15 medals, with a time of 16:25. Next in was Daren Lagasca (17:03PR), Frasier Byram (17:17PR), Noah Woodbury (17:25), Reilly Gobin (17:38PR) and Coty Lodge (17:54). Also running in the varsity race were Jacob Noah (18:00PR), Jeremiah Eddy (18:10PR), and Taylor Mitchum (18:15 SB). Summerville also competed in the Open boys race. The Greenwave took home the third place trophy. Leading the way was Gabe Carnegey (18:10). Following was Payne Rutherford (18:25PR), Jack Schwartz (18:36PR), Garrett Saylor (18:46) and rounding out the scoring was Trey Overton (18:48PR). Also competing were Caden McComiskey (19:01 PR), Grant Hughes (19:20), Blake Simokat (20:20 PR), Will Gnegy (20:27 PR), Malachi Pearson (20:34 PR), Daniel Dougherty (21:01), Cameron Bicknell (22:14), Ryan McSparrow (22:27PR), Phillip Simmons (23:14), Tyler Briggs (23:34PR), Evan Hughes (23:36PR) and Jacob Noack (24:45 PR).

The varsity girls’ cross country team competed at the Military Magnet Invitational. Official results and times are still not available. The varsity girls were led by Lizzie Naval with an unofficial time of 21:17 to place 5th overall. Following Naval was Caroline Raglin and Sydney Greer, both placing in the top ten. Next in for the Greenwave was Madeline Briggs, Lillian Kriese, Libby Hamilton, Abby Carnegey and Gracey Scruggs.
The Girls competed on Tuesday at the Highlander Invitational at Heathwood Hall in Columbia. The girls’ team finished third led by Caroline Raglin with a time of 20:53 to place 11th. Raglin was followed by Lizzie Naval in 14th (21:11) and Sydney Greer in 17th (21:21PR) finishing in the top 20 for awards. Also running well for the Greenwave was Lillian Kriese (22:41 PR), Madeline Briggs (23:52), Abby Carnegey (24:28), Libby Hamilton (24:59), Skyler Jorgensen (26:05), Julie Gardner (26:49).

The Greenwave boys’ cross country team finished first at the Military Magnet Invitational with Ben Eddy leading the way. Eddy was followed by Daren Lagasca in second place. Noah Woodbury and Frasier Byram placed 4th and 5th. Jeremiah Eddy finished in the top ten to round out the scoring for the Greenwave. Official results are not available yet.
On Tuesday the team traveled to Heathwood Hall in Columbia to run the Highlander Invitational. The boys’ team placed first led by Benjamin Eddy who was awarded second place in a virtual tie for first. Eddy was followed by Frasier Byram in fourth (17:20PR), Noah Woodbury (17:41), Coty Lodge (17:53PR), Taylor Mitchum (18:18 SB), Reilly Gobin (18:18), and Jeremiah Eddy (18:22). The Summerville Girls varsity cross country team managed a 16th place finish out of 36 teams. The small contingent of girls improved their ability to run as a team. Caroline Raglin led the wave in a time of 21:06. Following closely behind was Lizzie Naval in a time of 21:28. Eight grader, Sydney Greer finished next with a time of 22:11. Following Greer was another eight grader, Lillian Kriese in a time of 23:03. Madeline Briggs was the next scoring runner in a time of 23:34. Finishing the line-up for Summerville was eigth grader Abby Carnegey (23:36), Libby Hamilton (24:17PR) and Julie Gardner (27:47).

Summerville Boys Cross Country placed 4th at Low Country Invitational. The Low Country Invitational was held at Mullet Hall and featured 54 teams from around the state. The boys managed to beat rival Wando by a single point (172-173).
The Greenwave was yet again led by Victor Shellhammer running a time of 16:10 to finish fifth overall. Next in for the wave was Benjamin Eddy in 17th (16:44), Daren Lagasca in 28th (17:06PR), Frasier Byram in 53rd (17:41PR) and rounding out the scoring, Noah Woodbury in 69th (17:56). Also running, Coty Lodge (18:22), Gabe Carnegey (18:31), Payne Rutherford (18:35), Jeremiah Eddy (18:44) and Taylor Mitchum (19:03)
For the JV race, the boys finished 6th as a team. Leading the JV was Jacob Braddock (18:47). Boys Varsity places 3rd in the Invitational race at Hare and Hounds at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, NC.
The Hare and Hounds race attracted over 97 teams with 3,500 runners in attendance this year. Victor Shellhammer led the Greenwave with a 4th place finish and time of 16:43. Ben Eddy with a time of 17:08 finished 15th over all to help the wave to their third place finish. Both Shellhammer and Eddy received top 20 honors. Next in for the boys was Daren Hinds-Lagasca placing 24th with a time of 17:34. Rounding out the varsity was Noah Woodbury (18:26), Frasier Byram (18:27), Reilly Gobin and Gabe Carnegey.

Summerville also placed 5th in the Boys Open/JV race. Greenwave was led by Coty Lodge with a time of 18:55 finishing 22nd. Following Lodge were Taylor Mitchum (18:58), Payne Rutherford (19:10), Jeremiah Eddy (19:15), Jack Schwartz (19:28 PR), Jacob Braddock (19:40), Trey Overton (19:58), Garrett Saylor (20:04) and Grant Hughes.
Overall 10 runners bettered their times on this course from previous years.

Varsity boys finished 9th out of 46 scoring teams Saturday at the Mike Moore Lake Murray Invitational. There were over 2,200 runners in attendance from 56 schools. This course has a reputation of being one of the fastest in the state and it did not disappoint.
Varsity boys were led by Victor Shellhammer running a PR of 16:01 finishing in 11th place. Benjamin Eddy was close behind in 26th place with a PR time of 16:22. Next in for the Green Wave was Daren Hinds (17:04 PR), Noah Woodbury (17:18 PR), Gabe Carnegy (17:50 PR), Frasier Byram (17:54 PR), Reilly Gobin (18:16), Jeremiah Eddy (18:21 PR) and Taylor Mitchum (18:40).
JV Boys Elite team finished 7th and was paced by Payne Rutherford with a PR time of 18:35. Following Rutherford was Jacob Braddock (18:37 PR), Garrett Saylor (18:40 PR), Grant Hughes (19:07 PR), Jack Schwartz (19:36 PR), and Trey Overton (19:52 PR).
JV boys finished 26th and were led by Daniel Dougherty with a PR time of 20:20.
